Admission Arrangements

The Admissions Authority for The Abbey Primary School is Northamptonshire County Council. Information about the admissions process can be found on the Northamptonshire County Council website (a link to this website can be found under Key Information Links on the left hand side of this page).

The published admission number (PAN) for The Abbey Primary School is 60.

Parents considering a place for their child at The Abbey Primary School may, on request, visit the school and discuss admission procedures with the Head Teacher.

If you are applying for your child to start school at the age of 4, you will need to apply for a primary school place for your child during the Autumn term of the year in which your child turns 3.  The school will hold an Open Day for you to visit the school during the Autumn term and the date will be announced on the website.  If you are unable to attend the Open Day, you are, of course, welcome to make an appointment to visit the school at a mutually convenient time.

Northamptonshire County Council allocates places for all children starting school in the Autumn term of the year in which they turn 4.  Once places have been allocated, the school and parents will be notified.  If your child is offered a place to start school in the EYFS at The Abbey Primary School, you will be invited to a welcome evening where you will be given further information about the school. Children who are four years old are usually admitted part time at the beginning of the academic year in September and become full time students during the second week of term.

Ofsted

The school last received an Ofsted inspection in March 2015, when the school was judged to be a ‘Good’ school.  The inspection report is available on the Ofsted website (a link for this website can be found under Key Information Links on the left hand side of this page).

Ofsted also publishes a Data Dashboard report, which can be viewed by clicking the link under Key Information Links in the left hand side of this page. The School Data Dashboard report provides a snapshot of school performance at Key Stages 1 and 2. This report complements the Ofsted school inspection report by providing an analysis of school performance over a three-year period. Data can be filtered by key stage or by topic:

  • Expected progress
  • Attainment
  • Attendance
  • Closing the gap between disadvantaged and other pupils
  • Context

Ofsted welcomes feedback from parents using the Parent View website (a link to this website can be found under Key Information Links on the left hand side of this page).  Parent View asks for your opinion on 12 aspects of your child’s school, from the quality of teaching, to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour. A screencast, demonstrating how to register and complete a survey on Parent View, is available on the 'How to use Parent View' link found under Key Information Links on the left hand side of this page.

School Performance Tables

The Department for Education publishes a performance table for the school based on KS2 results, the school characteristics and spend per pupil data.  The report can be found on the Depart for Education website (a link to this website can be found under Key Information Links on the left hand side of this page).
