Christmas Post Box
The Abbey Primary Christmas post box is available for children to bring their Christmas cards in to be given out in class. Please ensure the name of the child who is to receive the card and their class name is clearly written on the envelope. The last day for posting is Tuesday 19th December 2017.
We welcome back Mrs Kearney from Maternity Leave next Tuesday, 12th December. Thank you to Mrs Morris for covering her EYFS class this term.
Magic Club Performance - Wednesday 13th December
Children who have been attending Magic Club during the Autumn term will be taking part in a performance on Wednesday 13th December at 3.15pm - 4.00pm in the school hall. All parents/carers, family and friends welcome.
On Monday 4th December 2017 a group of eight Year 5 and 6 children went to compete at a Swimming Gala at Northampton School for Boys. There were a range of individual and team relay races. The individual races included breast stroke, front crawl, butterfly and backstroke. All the children represented the school well with their impeccable behaviour and their perseverance and encouragement to others. Thank you to Miss Benjamin and Mrs Fawdon for taking the children to this event
On Thursday 30th November 2017, fourteen Year six pupils represented The Abbey Primary at an Indoor Athletics event hosted by Abbeyfield School. We competed against five local schools in a range of running, jumping and throwing events. The whole group really enjoyed the competition, showing great determination, encouragement and teamwork throughout all the activities. Well done, we were very proud of all your efforts. Thank you to Miss Ford and Mr Gardiner for taking the children to this event.
Lunchtime Supervisor Vacancy
Our Lunchtime Supervisors play an important role in ensuring that lunchtimes continue to be "harmonious occasions" and we are looking to recruit a new member of the team to start in January 2018.
This is a permanent position of 7.5 hours per week for 38 weeks a year. Anticipated start is 4th January 2018 subject to a DBS check.

Term Dates 2018/2019
Term dates for 2018/2019 are now available to view on the school website.
School-led clubs have now finished. New clubs for the Spring term have been sent home this week to Year 1, 3 and 6. Please return slips to the school office by Monday 11th December. A text will be sent to confirm places next week.
Magic Club finishes with their performance on Wednesday 13th December 2017 3.15pm. Children will go to Magic Club as normal at 3.00pm.
Pacesetter Gymnastics and Futsal Clubs finish week commencing 11th December 2017. Please be aware that Gymnastics on Wednesday 13th December has been changed to Tuesday 12th December that week.
Hotshots last session will be held on 15th December 2017.
The Abbey Primary Choir - Year 4, 5 & 6
The Choir (Years 4, 5 and 6) are going to be really busy this Christmas and are already working hard on their Christmas songs and carols. They will be singing at the following events, so I hope that you will be able to come and support them with their beautiful singing:
Grosvenor Centre - Friday 15th December 2017 11.00am (Year 4, 5 & 6 Choir) - Carol singing while you shop! The choir will be singing at the market square end of the Grosvenor centre outside Boots.
Delapre Abbey Christmas Fayre - SATURDAY 16th December 2017 1.00pm (Year 4, 5 & 6 Choir) - The choir's new venue for Carol singing in this most beautiful setting.
Thank you to all parents/carers, family and friends who attended the EYFS and KS1 performances this week. Well done to all children who were fantastic!
At the end of each performance we had a collection for 'The Childrens Society'. We raised £296.29! Thank you for all your kind donations.
Year 5/6 Christingle (St Mary's Church) - Thursday 14th December 2017 6.00pm (No pre-school children/babies allowed). Tickets will not be needed for this event.
There will be a collection during the evening in aid of St Mary's Church.
On Tuesday 19th December all classes will enjoy a party afternoon with light snacks and drinks provided by the school. The children will be able to wear their own clothes on this day, but please ensure they are appropriate for a day in school and going outside at break time and lunchtime.
Online Safety - Date For Your Diary
On Wednesday 21st February 2018 6.00 - 7.00pm, a session for parents/carers will be hosted by Mr Simon Aston (Online Safety Officer at Northamptonshire County Council) about the importance of online safety and how to keep children safe online. More details to follow in January 2018.

The dates for Sports Days for next year are as follows:
EYFS - Tuesday 26th June 2018 9.15 - 9.45am (Tuesday 3rd July if wet)
KS1 (Year 1 & 2) - Tuesday 26th June 2018 10.00 - 11.00am (Tuesday 3rd July if wet)
Lower KS2 (Year 3 & 4) - Monday 25th June 2018 9.15 - 10.30am (Monday 2nd July if wet)
Upper KS2 (Year 5 & 6) - Monday 25th June 2018 10.30 - 11.45am (Monday 2nd July if wet)
Please make a note of these dates in your diaries.
Primary School Places September 2018
Primary School places - If your child turns 4 before 31st August 2018 you need to apply for their primary school place by 15th January 2018 5.00pm.

Our meals are provided by Chartwells. If you wish to book school meals, please book with Chartwells using your child's login for ParentPay. Please book your child’s meals a full week in advance, the deadline of which is midnight on Tuesdays for school meals required the following week. If you miss the deadlines, you will need to provide your child with a packed lunch.
This week BD54 OZG and LR10 UKH have parked inconsiderately.

Please show consideration to our residents and parents/carers when parking outside school. We also ask that you drive slowly, 5MPH, on the school driveway.
Please do not park on both sides of the road outside of school as this prevents emergency services from accessing this road. Do not park on the zig zag lines or block driveways. Please show consideration for our local residents and think about the safety of ALL OUR CHILDREN!
