Science Week

What an exciting week we have had in Early Years during science week!

We have had the opportunity to take part in lots of different experiments including: exploring chromatography and ink, observing celery in food colouring, making a rainbow with skittles and watching what happens to raisins in lemonade.

The children have also looked at materials and how they can be changed. We made delicious krispy cakes by melting chocolate and discussed dissolving, solids and liquids when making jelly. The children also made a shelter for Fred Fox and talked about which would be the most suitable material to keep him dry and why.

What a fun and busy week!

Fred Fox

Are you being kept awake at night by the sound of Fred Fox chewing and chomping?....

Fred Fox came to Early Years and tried to chase and eat the Gingerbread man. We were detectives and looked at the clues he left behind. We decided we needed a plan to make a trap to catch Fred Fox before he ate any more of our tasty treats!

We wrote instructions for how to catch Fred Fox, using temporal connectives- First, Next, After That and Finally.

We used Talk for Writing to learn the instructions with actions to help with our writing.

Can you learn the instructions? Use the actions to help you.
