The Not So Ugly Duckling

Once Upon a time… Early Years and Year 1 were treated to a version of The Not So Ugly Duckling, Performed by Aesop’s Theatre Group.

The children all sat beautifully to watch the performance as Part of World Book Day Celebrations. Olivia commented, “I loved the swan puppets.” We had to make the noises for the storm.” recalled Alfie. Some of the children were chosen to take part, so we had frogs and ducks exploring the theatre space!

Gold summed up the performance, “It was very good, the puppets were so good!”

Mix a pancake, stir a Pancake, fry it in a pan!

We have been eating pancakes today! Well, after we explored how only 2 pancakes, could feed 4 hungry children! It was lovely to see the children think of how to solve the problem. Diamond suggested, ‘Go to the shop and buy some more.’ Many children came up with the solution of cutting the pancakes so they could share. Not all the children were happy with their share of the pancake. Bella pointed out to the group, ‘It’ not fair, Skye has more than me.”   Sophia was able to explain, ‘When you cut it in 2 pieces, they have to be the same.’ Talk to your children and let them explore cutting things in half and what that looks like.
